Ōuruhia Model School is your local school. We have been in Turners Road for over 110 Years, and continue to be a place that our children, parents and staff all love.  Visitors always tell us what a pleasure it is to be at Ōuruhia Model School ... our children love learning, achieve well, care for each other and enjoy getting stuck in to the wide range of rich experiences we provide. Ōuruhia Model School students enjoy learning, achieving well and are caring. The enthusiasm for learning is evident from Year 0 to Year 8. Students are engaged, challenged, and have agency to choose the context for their learning. Numeracy is developed through the Maths No Problem programme. Literacy is developed through structured literacy: an explicit, systematic, and sequential teaching of literacy at multiple levels. The teaching and learning scope and sequence develops through from phonemes to letter–sound relationships then syllable patterns and morphemes. The learning then moves on to learning vocabulary, sentence structure, paragraph structure, and text structures. 

Alongside the learning on Numeracy and Literacy Ōuruhia Model School students have the opportunity to also develop skills in The Arts (Music, Drama, Dance and Visual Art), Science, Technology, Health & Physical Education, Te reo Maori and Social Science / New Zealand History. 

Through the Ōuruhia Model School values students show they can be independent,  a thinker  and have a can-do attitude.  Through being caring they share skills and collaborate to achieve personal and group outcomes.
