Welcome to Ōuruhia Model School, your local home for learning! Situated on Turners Road for over 110 years, our great wee school is a place where connections matter, every child is known by name, and our community comes together. The moment you walk through the gate, you will feel the warmth of our incredible grounds and vibrant environment - a space where our learners love coming every single day, and where our staff are genuinely excited to teach and learn alongside our young people - Growing a Great School.

Here, at Ōuruhia School we celebrate small class sizes, connectedness and ensure we meet the needs of all our learners. Our students build strong foundations through a structured literacy approach and our understanding of the Science of Learning, applying this across core teaching areas in Literacy and Maths. Alongside this, we use a rich, localised curriculum to ensure full coverage across all learning areas, learning together through a tuakana-teina mentoring approach where our older and younger ākonga support, guide, and learn with one another.

Through our core values, our students grow to be caring, independent thinkers with a strong can-do attitude. We may be small, but we are mighty! We welcome you to Our Place, Our People, Our Future. Feel free to explore our Strategic Plan on our website to see our goals and annual plan, where quality teaching and learning alongside working together (mahi tahi) are at the heart of everything we do.

We would love to share our special school with you - please email the office office@ouruhia.school.nz or the principal principal@ouruhia.school.nz to arrange a visit and see firsthand what makes Ōuruhia Model School such a wonderful place to grow. We look forward to meeting you soon.

ngā mihi
