Governance - Commissioner 

Gabrielle Wall is supporting our school as Commissioner.

 

In this role she will take on the duties and responsibilities of the Board. This decision is supported by the Board. This process is a way to proactively support the effective governance of Ōuruhia Model School, to the benefit of our ākonga, staff and wider school community. 

Gabrielle’s priorities while in this position will be working with the Principal on growing the roll of our school, strengthening relationships within the school and across our wider community, working closely with staff to support effective teaching and learning, and eventually, returning the school to effective self governance. Her actions will align with best practice approaches and uphold our school values and vision: Learning for life and making it count. She has extensive experience working with schools across the South Island, including previous Commissioner appointments. In these roles, Gabrielle has established effective governance mechanisms, strengthened relationships across schools’ communities, and supported schools’ return to sustainable self-governance. 

This next step supports a commitment to ensure the effective, sustainable governance of Ōuruhia Model School.
