Sport and Physical Education

Ouruhia students are fortunate to have access to the North Canterbury Sport & Recreation Trust and Primary Sport Canterbury. 

North Canterbury Sport & Recreation Trust MainPower Primary School Sports Coaching Programme lessons is run each fortnight. During each these lessons student learn fundamental movements and develop the skills to actively participate in sports through drills, games, challenges. Ouruhia School teachers lead Physical Education lessons following the same lesson format. 

Ouruhia School students have access to the MainPower Waiswim Primary School Swimming Programme. With the sponsorship support from MainPower and the Waimakakariri District Council this swimming programme is ten swimming lessons at minimal cost that parents contribute to. The aim of this programme is to assist students to have confidence in and around water, learn and improve swimming strokes plus learn water safety including boat safety.
